For customers who have submitted their orders from March 31, 2021, the installation has changed from the previous pattern.
Instead of using the rental home gateway device from the telecommunications provider (NTT), we will provide our customers with a TP-LINK wireless router for their Sakura Fiber Internet. the installation for the device will be the same for remote and physical installations.
Please refer to the following instructions for your respective installation type.
※For Physical Installations, the installation company will bring the ONU (modem) to the residence when they visit to perform the installation.

If you are unable to connect to the internet after the installation date/time
For Fiber-Optic users
Remote Installation Customers
Before the remote installation/activation of your internet connection, you will receive two packages:
1) Modem from the telecommunications provider (NTT)
2) TP-Link wireless router from Sakura Mobile
The delivery date of these devices is typically 2 days before the remote installation. (However, depending on the customer's availability, the delivery date may change. This is decided before the order is submitted.)
★ You do not need to be present for the remote installation. The remote installation will be performed automatically over the internet line. Just set up the devices before the remote installation date/time. ★
Please DO NOT connect to the wireless router networks and access the wireless router's settings before the remote installation activation date.
ONU and accessories from NTT
※Please note there are cases when the LAN cable may not be included with the NTT modem. In which case, please use the LAN cable provided with the TP-Link wireless router.
Installing the ONU (Modem) and TP-Link wireless router
You will receive the ONU (modem) from the telecommunications provider.
1) Locate the fiber-optic port in your residence and connect the white cable to the port. Make sure that the cable is firmly plugged into the port. Do not use too much force and force it in. (There should be a click)
Note that the port may look different than the one below.
2) Slide off the bottom cover of the ONU, plug the other end of the white fiber-optic cable into the ONU, and then put the cover back on.
2a) If your ONU is white, then the way to take off the cover to insert the fiber-optic cable may be different. Please slide the cover off in the direction of the arrow in the picture below.
3) Plug the AC adapter into the ONU, and plug the adapter into a wall socket
4) Slide the top cover off, plug the LAN cable into the back of the ONU (It should click once it is properly inserted), and then place the cover back on
5) Plug the other end of the LAN cable into the WAN port (The port is the blue one) of the TP-Link wireless router.
6) Plug the AC adapter into the TP-Link wireless router and plug the adapter into a wall socket
7) The lights on the ONU and router should light up like below
FINISHED! Now you should be able to connect to the internet!
How to access the wireless networks (SSID)

Physical Installation Customers
The installation team will be bringing the ONU (modem) with them when they visit the residence to perform the installation.
After the physical installation is complete, the installation team should have set up the ONU (modem) and plugged it in. Next, you will need to set up the TP-Link wireless router into the ONU.
1) Slide the top cover off, plug the LAN cable into the back of the ONU (It should click once it is properly inserted), and then place the cover back on
2) Plug the other end of the LAN cable into the WAN port (The port is the blue one) of the TP-Link wireless router.
3) Plug the AC adapter into the TP-Link wireless router and plug the adapter into a wall socket
4) The lights on the ONU and router should light up like below
FINISHED! Now you should be able to connect to the internet!

For VDSL users
The devices and parts that you should receive are the following.
1) VDSL modem - This connects to the wall port and then a LAN cable will connect this to the home gateway device
3) Wireless router - Provided by Sakura Mobile
Please DO NOT connect to the wireless router'networks and access the wireless router's settings before the remote installation activation date.
Connecting the VDSL modem (The other device not in your picture)
1) Please connect the thinner cable (looks like a telephone cable) from the wall port (modular jack) directly to the back of the VDSL modem in the LINE port.
DO NOT use the following part
2) Please connect the LAN cable (thicker cable) to the LAN port of the VDSL modem
Connecting the VDSL modem to the wireless router
3) Connect the LAN cable you just plugged into the LAN port of the VDSL modem into the WAN port of the wireless router.
4) The lights on the VDSL modem and TP-Link should be green.
(Please note that the image below is of the fiber-optic ONU. Unfortunately, we do not have a picture yet of the VDSL modem. We will change this in the near future.)
FINISHED! Now you should be able to connect to the internet!
