5G Unlimited eSIM
You may install the eSIM before arriving in Japan. However, you may not be able to activate it until you arrive in Japan.
In this case, you should still be able to activate once you have landed in Japan, so please do not delete the eSIM.

4G Unlimited eSIM
You are able to install the Travel eSIM outside of Japan; however, it is strongly recommended that you install the eSIM after you arrive in Japan for the following two reasons.
① We sometimes see occasional errors when the eSIM profile is installed outside of Japan.
Examples:
- iPhone- stuck on “Activating…” or “Unable to Activate eSIM” popup
- Android- no signal bars displayed
Usually, you will still be able to use the eSIM once you arrive in Japan, so you do not have to delete the eSIM if you install it too early. However, please see below.
② Regardless of the usage period that you entered at checkout, your eSIM's usage period will begin when you install the eSIM onto your device.
Therefore, if you install the eSIM before arriving in Japan, your eSIM can expire earlier than your intended last date.
