5G Unlimited eSIM
You may download and install the eSIM before arriving in Japan; however, it cannot be activated until you arrive in Japan. Please note that on some device models, an error message may appear if the eSIM is installed outside of Japan. Even if the installation is completed overseas, an internet connection will not be available until you arrive in Japan.
To avoid any potential issues, we generally recommend installing the eSIM after arrival or just before coming to Japan.
If you install the eSIM, it will be activated immediately when you are in Japan, regardless of the date entered in the order, so please only install it on the day you wish to start using it.

4G Unlimited eSIM
You are able to install the Travel eSIM outside of Japan; however, it is strongly recommended that you install the eSIM after you arrive in Japan for the following two reasons.
① We sometimes see occasional errors when the eSIM profile is installed outside of Japan.
Examples:
- iPhone- stuck on “Activating…” or “Unable to Activate eSIM” popup
- Android- no signal bars displayed
Usually, you will still be able to use the eSIM once you arrive in Japan, so you do not have to delete the eSIM if you install it too early. However, please see below.
② Regardless of the usage period that you entered at checkout, your eSIM's usage period will begin when you install the eSIM onto your device.
Therefore, if you install the eSIM before arriving in Japan, your eSIM can expire earlier than your intended last date.
